Working
at Camp
Program information
Thank you for your interest in a summer staff position at Camp Killoqua!
Joining our staff is the start of an unforgettable summer experience.
Located one hour north
of Seattle, Killoqua is a
Northwest tradition,
complete with sunny days at the lake and living units located on 185
forested acres. Founded in 1941, Killoqua is open to boys and girls in
grades 1-12. Our programs are based on the philosophy of Camp Fire USA,
with a focus on kids, small groups, individual attention and acceptance of
differences. Programs emphasize appreciation of the out-of-doors,
democratic group living, non-competitive sports,
fun and friendship.

Camp holds a special magic for both children and the staff selected to work
with them.
Killoqua attracts people who share a
dedication to working with young people
and an interest in gaining new experiences. If chosen, you’ll work beside
people from all over the US and other countries, forming lasting friendships
and memories.
A
week at Killoqua is busy! Activities include swimming,
boating, biking, arts & crafts,
cookouts, overnights, archery, initiative games, low and high ropes courses,
climbing wall and sports and games. Specialty programs include horseback
riding, trips and teen leadership.
Staff work with
resident, day and inclusion programs. Campers in
resident camp
live together with their counselor. Participants in
day camp
attend morning through afternoon and take part in special theme activities,
plus general camp programming. Staff may also work with our inclusion
programs for campers with
special needs, in
either small inclusion cabin groups or in mainstreamed cabin groups;
training is provided for working with special populations.
Killoqua
is
accredited
by the
American Camp Association, which means that an outside team of ACA-trained
visitors has verified our compliance with more than 300 nationally
recognized industry standards.
Killoqua strives to be
inclusive.
Acceptance and participation in our programs is open to everyone, regardless
of race, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, sexual orientation or
other aspect of diversity.
We
seek applicants who are ready for the
responsibilities and challenges
of camp work. As a group, we share a common goal of creating the best
possible experience for our campers. You’ll gain new skills as you work
cooperatively with peers, and exercise patience and humor with campers.
Camp life is a more basic way of living, focused on the outdoors and being
with others. We minimize technology, using cell phones and the internet
only during break times. Killoqua is a
non-smoking, non-drinking, and drug-free environment for all staff and
campers. These intentional steps create a very special and memorable
place for both kids and staff.
A
summer at Killoqua has so many
benefits
for staff
members. Imagine working everyday in beautiful outdoor surroundings and
making a lasting, positive impact on campers. The sense of community,
adventure and fun is unmatched by most any other job out there. If this
sounds like a good fit for your values and talents, please apply soon. We
look forward to meeting you!
