What is Discovery Teens in Action?  We are glad you asked!  This is where teens 6th through 8th grade discover a need in their community, seek a solution and act on it!  Now you might have some more questions so let's get them answered!

What is Discovery Teens in Action? It is a group of 6th through 8th grade teens; from all over Snohomish County who meet twice a month, once to plan a service project and next to implement it! 

Who are the adult advisors?  Wonderful Volunteers who have been through our training and screening process.  Their role is to be supportive by allowing the youth to be leaders, keep the youth safe, and make sure all risk management procedures are met.

Who are the leaders of the group? The teens! Discovery Teens discover a need in their community, seek a solution and then act on it!  Every meeting is a new opportunity to take a turn leading.  We are practicing being caring, confident youth, and future leaders!

Where are we from?  Anywhere in Snohomish County.

Do we have to be a member of a Camp Fire club?  You can be a current Club member or not.  You can join Camp Fire USA through Teens in Action!

How much does it cost?  $17.00 a year for membership and dues to join.  There may be additional costs for special events. 

What are some of the past service projects? 
Halloween party for the community
Sarvey Wildlife Refuge
Hosted Community suppers
Hosted bake sales and garage sales
Served at the Santa Breakfast
Adopt-a-family during holiday’s
Easter party for family homeless shelter
Visited senior centers
Animal shelters
Food banks

Craft bags for hospitalized children
Arborfest

What are some of the celebration’s discovery Teens in Action have planned?
Sailing trips, swimming parties, galactic bowling, line dancing, Disco parties, Luau, and yearly camping trips. 

What if we can’t attend every meeting?   That’s okay too.  We know that you have busy schedules too!  Come when you can.  However, If you have made a commitment to a project – you are responsible to follow through – because your participation is very important!

How is participation recognized?  You can earn the star community service emblem, the president’s service award, beads and other emblems as well.  Participation is also recognized as fulfilling requirements for middle school academic credits or community service credits.

Participation fulfills the community involvement/service experience required on most University applications.
