WoHeLo Luncheon

The 2010 WoHeLo Luncheon was a very special one as it marks the closing of Camp Fire USA National’s 99th birthday and we set the stage for celebrating our Centennial.

Grace Bargreen, our Lou Denny recipient this year, marked her 100th birthday this summer.  Grace played an important role in insuring Camp Fire and Camp Killoqua programs are available to the youth in and around Snohomish County.  She also served on the Board in the 1950’s and is currently the oldest living former or current Board Member!

Grace contributes her longevity to staying active and eating healthy.  She gives credit to her mother as being one of the first nutritionist and instilling the importance of eating fresh vegetables and fruits at each meal.  Our keynote speaker, Dr. Mitra Ray, believes most people do not get enough fruits and vegetables and if we changed our diets we could increase our lifespan.

Dr. Ray, a biochemist with a Ph.D. in cellular biology and author of From Here to Longevity, has focused her research on preventative concepts in health after battling with back spasms for many years with no relief.  After making changes in her diet she noticed her health improving and has been encouraging people to take control of their own health for the past 15 years.

We here at Camp Fire USA Snohomish Council are looking forward to many years of serving our youth and families.  We hope to have a healthy council for many years to come.  We cannot do this on our own.  We need members of the community to help us and we are hoping that you will join us as we strive for longevity.

Stay tuned for details of the 2010 Luncheon event!
