General
Sessions & Units
Every week at camp is new and exciting no matter the camper's age or program you register for. Since our staff work with each cabin group to create the session activities, each week is unique. Click here for more information about weekly session activities and living units at camp.  Many campers attend a "general" session, which includes a wide variety of activities around camp.  You may also choose a "specialty" session - scroll down for descriptions.

Intro to Overnight Camp & Shorter Week Session 9
Our last session is a special four-day highlights week with programs for both younger and older campers. Campers in grades 1-6 do the “Intro to Overnight Camp,” with an emphasis on welcoming new resident campers. Older campers can choose a general session (grades 7-8), horse camp (grades 5-8) or the new Nocturnal Camp (grades 7-8). Stay up late, sleep during the day and learn all about the outdoors with creative activities. This will be a fun one!

Teen Leadership Programs
Sharpen your skills with children, learn to lead camp activities, and go behind the scenes to see what makes camp happen!  Killoqua offers three teen leadership programs this summer:

Day Camp Assistant
(grades 8 and older)
Counselor-In-Training/Wrangler-In-Training (grades 11-12)

Click here for full details about each leadership program!
The deadline for DCA and CIT applications has passed; please check back in January 2011 for next year.

Specialty Camps
Focus on a specialty activity for about two hours each day, plus enjoy lots of general camp activities, too!

ARCHERY CAMP
Grades 5-8
An exciting session for campers who love archery. Whether you’re new to archery or have some experience, you’ll sharpen your technique with coaching from skilled staff. Go to the range each day, and practice with archery games and other fun activities. (Session 3 – grades 5-6; Session 8 – grades 7-8)

New!
CRAFTS CAMP
Grades 4-8

Ready to try some exciting new arts and crafts projects? Let your creativity flow as you learn basic techniques and work on a variety of designs to take home. Campers will help choose the projects, which can include candles, bead-making, mosaics, batik, woodworking, embossing and many more. Killoqua staff and guest instructors will encourage you and help you have a blast!
(Session 4 – grades 7-8; Session 6 – grades 4-6)

VENTURE CREW
Grades 5-6
Looking for an adventure this summer at camp? Try out venture crew, an exploration filled week with a focus on outdoor skill-building. Your group can explore all 185 acres of camp, build shelters, cook crazy foods over a fire, and navigate with a map and compass. You can even choose to investigate camp after dark by going on one or more overnights, complete with night hikes and exciting games. (Session 5)

WIND IN YOUR SAILS

Grades 7-10
Ahoy mateys, come be the captain and crew on a sunfish sailboat! Spend time each day at the waterfront, in addition to regular camp activities, developing your skills as a sailor. Learn how to set-up and care for our boats, how to use our windsurfing boards, then let the wind guide you across Crabapple Lake. You will also enjoy a one-day out-of-camp sailing excursion. Campers in this session must be able to swim 200 yards and tread water for 5 minutes. (Session 7)
Sailboat

CULINARY ARTS CAMP
Grades 4-6
Spend part of your week at camp as a chef! Working in groups of similar ages, you’ll learn basic cooking techniques, bake different kinds of bread, prepare meals outdoors, and leave with a special Camp Killoqua cookbook! Campers will tie dye an apron, learn about environmentally friendly cooking practices, and take home an herb plant that you started at camp. (Session 8)

New - due to high registration numbers, Culinary Camp is now open session 7, too!

New! NOCTURNAL CAMP
Grades 7-8
Have you ever wondered what happens when the world is dark and seems to sleep? Nocturnal camp offers the unique opportunity to stay up all night and explore the many wonders camp has to offer. You will learn about nocturnal animals and birds, go on exciting hikes, and play fun games. A great progression for campers who have done Venture Crew. Try this new flavor of camp during our shorter session for three nights of adventure! (Session 9)

Please note for all horse camps:  If you have requested a cabin-mate they also need to be in the horse camp program. Campers must have long jeans and boots or sturdy shoes with ½"-¾" heels for riding. (Consider borrowing boots or buying a used pair if you do not have your own.) Camp provides riding helmets.

Participants must be skilled in riding at the trot and lope, and proficient at grooming and tacking on their own. (Session 5)

(Session 9)

Inclusion Programs
Killoqua strives to include all youth in camp programs. Our trained staff works with campers ages 7-21 with mild to moderate developmental disabilities. To ensure a successful experience, please contact us prior to registering to discuss

your needs. Space is limited each session. Be sure to indicate the inclusion program on your registration form; we may be unable to accommodate campers with special needs if they are not registered through this program. All campers will be evaluated to determine that this program is appropriate for them and that they will benefit from participating. If we are unable to meet your needs, we are happy to provide referrals to other camps. Campers must be attending a public school and be able to perform self-help skills: feeding, dressing, toileting and grooming. (Sessions 3-9)

Teen Trip Program: "Wadikima"
Great adventures, new friends, and building outdoor skills are what our trips are all about.  Coed Wadikima groups work together to plan their itinerary, cook meals and maintain camp.  Balance physical activity during the day with relaxing around the camp fire in the evening.  Participants will learn fundamental outdoor skills and practice leave no trace camping.

A pre-trip meeting and equipment list helps campers and parents prepare for each trip.  All equipment is provided, with the exception of bikes.  Our trips can be enjoyed by all skill levels, so there’s one for you!  Please call if you need more information.

BIKE THE ISLANDS
G
rades 7-12
After getting ready at camp, head out to the San Juan Islands for riding, beach combing, swimming at Lakedale resort, cooking over the fire, and sleeping under the stars. From our base camp on Lopez Island, choose day trips to other islands. Campers will need to bring their own multi-gear (18 or 21 speed recommended) bike in good working condition. (Session 6)
